Contributions to Education and Islamic Development:
Sheikh Essa Darboe has significantly contributed to the advancement of Islamic education in The Gambia. He has served as a lecturer at Brikama College, principal of the Solidarity Center for Islamic Studies, and Secretary-General of the General Secretariat of Arab-Islamic Education in The Gambia. Under his leadership, standardized textbooks were introduced, teachers' financial situations improved, and Islamic education received greater recognition in the national education framework.
His extensive work in Da’awah includes hosting Islamic radio and television programs such as “Islamic Forum” and “Hadith Al Islam,” which have had a profound impact across West Africa. He has also been actively involved in public sermons, lectures, and religious programs, providing spiritual guidance to the Gambian Muslim community.
As a prominent intellectual and advocate for Islamic education, Sheikh Essa Darboe continues to be a guiding force in The Gambia’s religious and educational landscape, striving for the advancement of knowledge and the promotion of Islamic values in society.
