Hajj Commission

The Gambia Hajj Commission offers a variety of services to pilgrims, including: The Gambia Hajj Commission is responsible for organizing the Hajj pilgrimage for Gambian Muslims. The Hajj is a religious obligation for Muslims, and is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. It involves a pilgrimage to the Kaaba, or “House of Allah”, in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Office of The Gambia pilgrims Affairs commonly known as Gambia Hajj commission. It’s constituted by the Government of The Gambia to be between The Gambia, Saudi Government and Hajj operators (travel agencies). This office is responsible to coordinate all activities surrounding Hajj operations within The Gambia and out. All travel agencies are answerable to this office. The head of the this office is called Amir Ul Hajj (chairman of national Hajj commission) it has members and Secretary General all selected By the president.

The Hajj Commission provides three-course meals for pilgrims in Mecca and Medina.
Ambulances
The Hajj Commission provides an ambulance to provide medical assistance to pilgrims.
Pilgrim support
The commission provides support for pilgrims, including medical personnel to travel with them. In 2024, the commission received an ambulance for pilgrims that was purchased through donations from Gambians.
Hajj visa processing
To process a Hajj visa, pilgrims need to submit their passports, medical and vaccination certificates, and two passport-size photos.
Hajj Packages
In the past, the national airline, Gambia Airways, offered organized group Hajj packages that included air travel, ground transportation, and accommodation.
Hajj Achievements
In 2023, the Gambia achieved awards during the Hajj, and President Barrow commended the Hajj Commission and pilgrims for their success
